a.) Substitutions:

If a team’s roster drops to 10 or fewer players for National Division or 11 or fewer for the American Division, any game due to injury or absence, they may use player(s) from the Substitution List or another team to substitute for their injured/absent player(s). Teams that have injured player who cannot continue for the remainder of the season will be given a replacement player from the Sub list of equal ranking to maintain the teams roster of permanent players to a minimum of 11 or fewer players for National Division or 12 or fewer for the American Division for  active rostered players. The player that is not able to continue to play the remainder of the season will be removed from the team’s roster. A substitute player has to have the same Rating or below as the injured/absent player(s) they are replacing.  Teams may not sit a healthy player on their roster in order to use a substitute player. In addition, if a player is injured and can’t continue to play and there is no substitute, that team may use a catcher from the other team to get to 11 players.

Palm Creek Softball League will maintain a Substitute Player List for each season.  

The list will be populated with the name of players who:

A)  Choose not to be included in the league draft, or 

B)  Express a desire to play softball but not in time to be included in the draft

The Substitute Player List will include the following information

• Player Name
• Player Ranking
• Preferred position(s)
• Cell Phone Number
• Email Address
• Club

The Substitute Player will:

• Communicate their desire to be a Substitute Player to their Club Rep or the League Director
• Register as a player in the league database,
• Sign all applicable league waivers
• Obtain a player ranking from the appropriate Club Representative 

The Team Coach will:

• Identify the need for a substitute prior to a game
• Check the Substitute Player List to ensure that the substitute player is an equal Player Rating or lower than the player being substituted.
• Make every effort to fill line-up openings utilizing the Substitute Player List
• Fill line-up openings with registered players if unable to fill using the Substitute Player List
• Notify the League Director of players who cannot complete the season and will utilize the Substitute Player List to add a player to their roster

The League Director (or delegate) will be responsible to:

• Maintain the Substitute Player List
• Communicate to the player that they are on the Substitute Player List and inform them of the Substitute Player rule and process
• Post the current Substitute Player List at the scoring tower
• Ensure that Substitute Player signs the appropriate waiver forms prior to the player engaging in play.
